Beauty is mainly a major medium for Kavod (and a beautiful woman can have major Ga'ava issues). So the Megila starts off with Gashmiyus’dike fun; and in the end, the true beauty and Simcha, like Chen and good Middos, takes over. Just like Mordechai takes over Haman’s position.
Mordechai and Esther were loved and respected by all, including Goyim. Just like Tefilin, about which it says: וְּרָאוּ כָל עַמֵּי הָאָרֶץ כִּי שֵּם ה' נִּקְּרָא עָלֶיך וְּיָרְּ אוּ מִּמֶךָ the nations will see the name of Hashem upon you, and will fear you. Wearing Tefilin reminds the person to be humble and nice, and is a source of a Kiddush Hashem.
RSRH Zatzal says that the Chet HaEigel was caused by the lower elements in Klal Yisroel (like the עֵּ רֶ ב רַ ב) who viewed Yiddishkeit like a difficult burden. How important it is to constantly daven that we appreciate the truth about our Torah and Mitzvos, and with time we’ll feel the “light”, and Sasson V’simcha, and respect of all these beautiful Mitzvos. And we won’t fall into wickedness, like the Eigel and Ta'avos Olam HaZeh.
ALL our Yiddishkeit is: דַרְּ כֵּי נוֹעַם pleasant, but: אוֹרָה וְּשִּמְּחָה וְּשָשן וִּיקָר (the extra light and Simcha) seems to have a special place in bringing happiness and replacing Ta'avos Olam HaZeh in a positive way. Mordechai was the person who warned Klal Yisroel not to partake in Seudas Achashveirosh, and he saved Klal Yisroel from being destroyed. It appears that he also taught them how a Yid really has pleasure!
A conscience-free Simcha, which gives loads of: סִּ יפוּק הַ נֶ פֶ ש (satisfaction) and also gives Olam HaBah. But these are pleasures that need to be worked on, since Hashem gives Schar for effort (the reason for this is since the reward in Olam HaBah cannot be: נַ הַ מָ א דְּ כִּ יסוּפָ א “bread of shame”, i.e., reward which is free and not earned). Novardok (and I’m sure many other Mussar Yeshivos and Chasidim) was unique in achieving so much satisfaction, that the Yetzer Hara could hardly “get his foot through the door”.
This was largely because they worked on themselves in groups, and groups don’t fool themselves. And groups come up with the best ideas. But for our Dor, we should realize that for many of us, just davening for Shleimus and trying all kinds of Eitzos can be our biggest Zechus, despite the fact that we aren’t the kind of "Malachim" that they were.
