A Family Escaped the Nazis Because Of A Few Kind Words
FASCINATING STORY
The same day I spoke to this woman, I opened up to a story in the Spring Hill Times which happened when people were trying to get out of Germany before WWII. There was a government office in Berlin that was issuing visas to get out of the country. Whoever didn't leave Germany, was killed by the Nazis, Rachmana Litzlan.
A young mother was determined to save her family. She traveled to Berlin, and made her way to the office. As she got closer, she got despondent. She saw a long line formed, with hundreds of people waiting for the visas. The mother took her place in the back of the line, and waited for hours and hours in the sweltering heat. A few hours later, an official announced: “The work-day has ended! If anyone needs a visa, they should return the next day early in the morning”.
The desperate mother didn't give up. She found somewhere to sleep; she was determined to save her family. When she returned the next morning, the lines were already out the door. Once again, she waited and waited, but unfortunately, she didn't get her turn. The office had distributed its quota of visas, and could no longer help anyone. Cries came out from the desperate, famished crowd, but there was nothing to do. They were stuck with the Germans, Rachmana Litzlan.
