The opening event for the new center of Chabad of Rechavia (Jerusalem), was celebrated just in time for Shavuot. It was dedicated by Shliach Rabbi Yisrael Goldberg in memory of Rabbi Moshe Kotlarsky, OBM.
Rabbi Kotlarsky who, among other responsibilities, was the iconic Chairman of the International Kinus Hashluchim in New York and played a pivotal role in revitalizing Jewish communities and growing Chabad institutions, passed away on Tuesday, the 27th of Iyar, 5784 (June 4th, 2024).
In attendance were the Chief Rabbi of the Kotel, Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, Rabbi Meir Goldwicht, Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshiva University, and Minister of Religious Affairs Rabbi Michael Malkieli.
The highlight of the Chanukat HaBayit was when Rabbi Goldberg announced emotionally that he was dedicating a home for Shluchim (Chabad emissaries) from around the globe, that come to Jerusalem, in loving memory of Rabbi Kotlarsky.
Now Shluchim that come to central Jerusalem can have a home locally, within the new center of Chabad of Rechavia, to have lectures and farbrengens, for their groups of friends.
“This is in deep appreciation to Rabbi Kotlarsky for his ongoing close relationship with Chabad of Rechavia,” Rabbi Goldberg said.
