Korach Denied the Core

Havineini | June 27, 2025

Moshe Rabbeinu attempted to change Korach’s core attitude. This is why Chazal tell us that Korach brought a tallis that was all blue, mocking the entire mitzvah of tzitzis, and thus scorning all the mitzvos that Moshe Rabbeinu had transmitted at Har Sinai. With this, we understand that Korach denied everything—and still Moshe Rabbeinu came with the utmost bittul, trying to get to the core of the matter. Once it was revealed—at the core attitudinal level—that Korach was כופר in HaKadosh Baruch Hu Himself, there was nothing left to discuss. But it was crucial to get to the base of his thinking, and that is what Moshe did.

How much more so on the positive side. If we speak about emunah with people who are stuck in disagreements, growing together in our belief in Hashem, they will eventually come around. He will reflect and say, “I have reconsidered. I want to make peace.” When we rectify negative premises and attitudes, we bring peace to the innermost recesses of a person’s mind.
