The Mishnah Berurah (Orach Chaim 262:9) writes: “The Zohar and mekubolim warn very much against getting into machlokes on Shabbos chas vesholam, especially between husband and wife.” He then cites our Gemara in Gittin.
iii) During the week people are busy with work, and they don’t have time to get into fights, as their workload takes over their minds. However, when Shabbos the day of rest finally arrives, people stop working, they finally have some space in their minds, and then the fighting begins. (Kli Yakar, beginning of Vayekhel)
