Your Strengths

AVROHOM YAAKOV

Isn’t it fascinating that when a person is attacked, it is often the person’s strengths that are criticised. The wealthy person who gives to any cause is called stingy, the person who is an expert negotiator is referred to as being stubborn and inflexible, the person who is empathetic is portrayed as narcissistic and so forth.

And if course, a lie repeated many times eventually displaces the truth.

MOSHE WAS REFERRED to by G-d as being the humblest of all men.

It took days for G-d to convince him to lead the Israelites from Egypt. He was happy when extra elders came to the fore and even prophesied that Moshe would not have to lead the people into the land of Israel. After the disaster of the Spies, Moshe refused G-d’s offer to start a new nation.

This was a man so far removed from ego.

Yet what did Korach in his rebellion accuse Moshe of? “Why do you elevate yourself over the Congregation of G-d?” This is the antithesis of what Moshe was at his core. And of course, that was the very thing that Moshe was being attacked over.

So when you are next unfairly criticised for no reason, consider what the attack is about. It will likely be a strength that others perceive in you.
