The Second Day of Yom Tov and the Flow of Divine Abundance

The Tzemach Tzedek continues that the reason of this idea (The deeper reason why it is necessary to go to Eretz Yisroel in order to reach one’s Neshomoh’s root in the spiritual world of Atzilus) will all be better understood by first explaining the concept of the second day of Yom Tov outside Eretz Yisroel.

On the second day of Yom Tov outside Eretz Yisroel the supernal abundance from the spiritual world of Atzilus descends into the state of Malchus of the lower spiritual worlds of ‘Yetzirah’ and ‘Asiyah’ which pervade the seventy spiritual ministers. It is through these ‘seventy ministers’ that the affluence descends to the B’nei Yisroel who are in the Diaspora outside Eretz Yisroel.

Malchus and the Seventy Ministers

The supernal Sefirah of Malchus is positioned below the other Sefiros so that it can receive from all those that are above it. It then becomes the Kesser (Crown) to the world below it as it becomes the giver of the light which it had received from the other Sefiros above it. Just as a King (who on the one hand is at the very top of the people whilst on the other hand without subjects is just another person), is dependent on his subjects this is because they make him who he is.

This is a spiritual level that feeds into the nations of the world. There are seventy original nations of the world and each nation has a spiritual minister that represents that nation. And collectively they are the seventy ministers. Like everything else in this world as the Zohar says that even a single blade of grass has an angel that encourages it to grow. The Alter Rebbe writes in Tanya (Iggeres HaKodesh chapter 25) “if the creation of all things derives from the Shechinah, from the revelation of Divine power, how do we account for those things that derive from Kelipohs, entities that “oppose” G-dliness and holiness? However, outside the Land of Israel, the life-force is bestowed by means of “the word of G-d” being invested within the extraneous patron-angels that are appointed over the seventy nations. I.e., a mere spark from the “word of G-d,” which is called Malchus of Asiyah, descends and radiates over the supernal patron-angels by encompassing them from above. I.e., it does not truly vest itself within them; rather, the life-force issues to them from this radiation which shines over them from above, in an encompassing manner. And from the patron-angels, life-force issues to the nations, and to the cattle, beasts and fowl that are in their lands, and to the physical world, and the physical heavens, i.e., the sphere in which the stars orbit.”
