5746-1985, at a farbrengen, the Rebbe quoted the Radak and the Chida — great Torah sages of the Twelfth and Nineteenth centuries, respectively — who wrote about the urgency of awaiting Mashiach. It is evident, the Rebbe explained, that people were unaware that awaiting and asking for Mashiach can hasten his arrival so the Rebbe suggested that ads be run in newspapers quoting these great sages. As well, he initiated a letter writing campaign to publicize this matter.
