5. Illness of the whole body. If an infant is ill throughout his body, even if the illness is not dangerous, he does not get a bris until he recovers and waits another seven full days (שו''ע סי' רס''ב ס''ב ), e.g., if he was ill for two weeks and recovered on Tuesday at 4 PM, his bris will take place the following Tuesday after 4 PM.

6. Even if the doctors say he is already fully healthy after two days and can get a bris, we are not meikel based on doctors. We are machmir to wait seven full days, as when it comes to chumra, all we care about is the words of Chazal (ס' כורת הברית, שו''ת אבנ''ז יו''ד סי' ש''כ ושכ''ד, מנחת שלמה ח''א סי' ז').

7. Localized illness. However, if the infant has an ailment in a particular limb or organ that does not give him the status of “ill throughout the body,” we do not wait seven extra days; we give him a bris as soon as he recovers (שו''ע שם ).
