Greeting and Blessing:
I was pleased to be informed that the date of your annual dinner was advanced to Tuesday, the 12th of Menachem Av.
Coming so soon after Tisha b’Av, it will, I am sure, be appreciated that this event which aims at strengthening and enlarging the Yeshivah on the Australian Continent, is of vital concern, not only to the Jewish community in Australia, but to our people every where. For, just as the Destruction of Jerusalem and of the Beth Hamikdosh meant exile for our Jewish people everywhere, so every constructive action in any part of the world brings a ray of Redemption to our people everywhere.
Indeed, the Destruction and Exile were not simply a punishment. We are expected to correct the mistakes of the past. The mistakes that led to the Destruction of the Beth Hamikdosh can be corrected only by strengthening and expanding the "Small Sanctuaries," the institutions of Torah and true piety, such as the Yeshivah in Melbourne.
May G-d grant you vision in your sacred work, so that you contribute your fullest share to the realization of the Prophetic vision when these sad days will be transformed into days of true joy and light, with the coming of the true Redemption, speedily in our time.
