This is the way the Ribbono shel Olam wants us to be every single day—our Yiddishkeit should come alive and be real!
An authentic Yid prepares for his everyday Shacharis in this way, because the opportunities for closeness to Hashem through it are endless. He prepares himself properly for davening, he performs teshuvah, he recites korbanos with the thought that he’s indeed in need of forgiveness... just as the Yidden did in the time of the Beis HaMikdash, wishing to be cleansed of any aveirah. It was a city of mesirus nefesh!
This Yid will approach the avodah of Pesukei d’Zimrah with a deep desire to recite praises of Hashem. He will cry his heart out at Ahavas Olam, and if he feels distant from the Ribbono shel Olam, he will emphasize even more the words of veha’er eineinu b’Torasecha vedabeik libeinu b’mitzvosecha. If he feels plagued by negative habit and proclivities, he will stress the words veyached levaveinu le’ahavah uleyirah es shemecha.
This Yid begins to feel a great ta’anug in his everyday davening... and he wouldn’t exchange it for all the money in the world. If someone were to approach him the following day before davening, wishing to schmooze or share news, he wouldn’t even be tempted to listen—even if he’s ordinarily a person who enjoys news and politics. The joy and the pleasure that he has begun to taste are simply that overwhelming.
