Atoning for Sins

The Way of Emunah | June 25, 2025

Atoning for Sins:

The Ben Ish Chai (Chelek 3, Drush 3) writes that Hashem wants people to judge every fellow Jew favorably. Even if one is guilty of the very sin he suspects someone else of committing, if he judges his friend favorably, he will be judged favorable from Above. When one defends a fellow Jew, he will be defended in Heaven, and the prosecuting angels will be unable to badmouth him and, instead, will be forced to agree to the ones who defend him. For this reason, Chazal say that if one judges another Jew favorably, he will have all his sins forgiven. But if one judges others negatively, he will be judged negatively from Above.
