Respect and Cherish Every Word You Say

Bitachon Weekly | June 25, 2025

Your words are holy – don’t make them empty! Don’t cheapen your power of speech! Imagine! A human has the power of creating a new Mitzva just by uttering and saying something (he creates a Neder or a Sh’vua (vow), and he now has a Mitzva to fulfil his words). He can even create his own unique sin that only he has. This is a Siman of how we should regard and cherish every word we say.

“Better a positive lie”, since the words you say are like Malachim and they can become more and more true. Words that are not spoken (that remain in the heart) are not words. Who cares what you are thinking in your heart. If you speak nicely about a person or a situation, it creates a Bracha in his life. Sometimes you’ll see the positive outcome of your words right away, and sometimes only later.

The more you force yourself to believe in your own words, the more power they have! They say that as soon as you say something positive or negative, the Malachim immediately react and they say: אָמֵן כֵן יְּהִי רָצוֹן Amen, may it be His will! The whole universe echoes your words, and you create goodness or evil according to what you say.

TRUE STORY

A Yungerman was in the hospital with his small child who had a serious problem (I believe the child couldn’t breathe). He spent a whole night saying how the child was 100% cured, and in the morning the child was discharged from the hospital and in perfect condition. I heard this from the Yungerman himself.

L'havdil, I heard a similar story about a person whose liver was just about gone because of his heavy drinking. His mother spent a whole night praying, and in the morning he was a new person.
