R’ Asher Sossonko once got a draft notice from the Russian military. Upon receiving the notice, R’ Asher went to R’ Chonye Marozov H”YD, the secretary of both the Rebbe Rashab and the Frierdiker Rebbe, to request a Yechidus, a private audience, with the Frierdiker Rebbe. However, R’ Chonye informed R’ Asher that the Rebbe was not receiving people for Yechidus then. R’ Asher begged and pleaded with R’ Chonye to see the Rebbe, arguing that it was an urgent matter. R’ Chonye stood firm that there was no Yechidus, but explained to R’ Asher that the Rebbe Rashab had once given him the power to bless people in urgent matters when Yechidus was not available. R’ Chonye blessed R’ Asher that everything would be okay, that he should go to his draft appointment as scheduled and he would be sent home.
