The Stronger the Yetzer Hara, The Greater the Kedusha

Bitachon Weekly | June 25, 2025

Only after Churban Bayis Sheini did we had Rabbi Akiva and Raban Shimon ben Gamliel, etc. who qualified to be killed Al Kiddush Hashem, and thereby be M'chaper on Mechiras Yosef. The Tachlis of a human is to have a physical Guf (body) and a big Yetzer Hara; and with that, to serve Hashem. Like the Kotzker Rebbe said: Hashem says “I have enough Malachim in Shamayim! In Olam HaZeh I want humans to serve Me”. And the bigger the challenge against a strong Yetzer Hara, the bigger Kedusha. Like living in a dark Galus, without the light and beauty of the Bais Hamikdash.

And the more we have a chance to turn ourselves around from bad to good. The Ohr HaChaim says that Hashem has lots of Nachas from Malachim singing to Him, and from the Tzaddikim in Gan Eden even more. But from the Tzaddikim in this lowly Olam HaZeh singing to Him, He has the most Nachas. Overcoming a dark Galus among wicked Goyim, and still striving for Ruchaniyus; THIS is the most ideal.
