5733 – 1973, the Rebbe walked out of his office to personally escort Rabbi Leibel Kaplan, who was about to travel to Israel to serve as a Chabad emissary in Safed. The Rebbe gave Rabbi Kaplan a dollar for charity, as well as to his wife and baby son, who would be making the trip a few days later. He also gave each of them a copy of a public letter he had recently issued, instructing that when the child grows older, its content should be explained to him. The Rebbe remained outside until they departed and were no longer visible.
