5712-1952, the Rebbe sent a message to the yeshivah students, instructing all of them to attend the upcoming farbrengen where he wished to address them. At the farbrengen, the Rebbe spoke about “Merkos Shlichus,” the program by Merkos L’inyonei Chinuch for students to travel to remote cities and towns in order to locate Jews and bring Yiddishkeit to them. “Even when it appears to you that you haven’t accomplished anything, the truth is that you do have an effect. Just seeing a yeshivah student with a beard running down the street can cause someone to have a spiritual arousal.”
