Be A Good Person and Say Only Good

Bitachon Weekly | June 27, 2025

The same with Korbanos, it says: אָדָם כִּי יַקְרִיב (Vayikra 1:2) an “Adam” shall bring (and not “Yisroel”). Even a Goy brings Korbanos (Gemara Menachos 73b) and Noach brought a Korban right after the Mabul, since a Korban is basic for all humans. When you Shecht the animal, you are recognizing how lucky you are for your very existence, since you don’t deserve being anything more than a dead animal.

Basic gratitude is what a Korban should teach you. And when you see the insides of the dead animal, you appreciate the tremendous Nissim of your very life. No wonder: זְרִיקַת הַדָּם the throwing of the blood on the Mizbeach is M'chaper; you recognize the greatness of your very essence, i.e., כִּי הַדָּם הוּא הַנֶּפֶשׁ (Vayikra 17:11) because blood is the essence of life. Korban means being close to Hashem, and being close to Him is everything.

The: חֵלֶק אֱלוֹקַ מִמַּעַל human who is a piece of Hashem has to recognize who he really is, and what his very existence is all about. This is why Emuna and Bitachon is so vital and basic. This is why Bitachon is even more important than Emuna. It means that Hashem is good, and He will give you more goodness; especially if you believe in His goodness, and you trust in Him.

Chazal say (Arachin 15b) that Lashon Hara is equal to Avoda Zara, Gilui Arayos, and Sh'ficus Damim. Speech makes you like Hashem, and the essence of Hashem is goodness. When you speak evil, you do the opposite of the whole Tachlis of speech! (i.e., to be like Hashem and say only good). No wonder the Chovos Halvavos says (Shaar HaKnia, Perek 7) that by speaking Lashon Hara you get all the sins of the person you spoke about, and he gets all your Mitzvos, Rachmana Litzlan.

By speaking Lashon Hara, your whole essence is in jeopardy; you’re bringing evil to the surface, and you aren’t even being a basic human and a: חֵלֶק אֱלוֹקַ מִמַּעַל piece of Hashem who sees only good. And the Gr”a says (Mishlei 22:19) that the Torah was given to us mainly so that we should acquire Middas Bitachon. Positivism and seeing good despite a difficult person or sad situation is the main Tachlis of the challenges of mankind. Even the slightest effort in this direction is priceless.

It says: וַיַּרְא אֱלֹקִים כִּי טוֹב “Hashem saw it was good” six times in Parshas Breishis. Make sure you copy Hashem, and insist upon seeing good every day of your life. Try to find only good and positivism, and you become like Hashem who creates and doesn’t destroy. Only the evil of mankind destroys itself. I have seen Gevaldige Yeshuos when practicing Bitachon and Ayin Tova with people, and I saw circumstances improving drastically.

Always report good news, and praise Hashem’s beautiful world and His wonderful people. Appreciate yourself, and value the goodness of your situation, despite all those down-sides that the Yetzer Hara tries to make us think about all day.
