Keep Reminding Yourself That Thoughts Are Real And Therefore Need to Be Pure

Bitachon Weekly | June 27, 2025

The new mother brings two Korbanos; an Olah and a Chatas. Rabeinu B'chayei says that Olah is mentioned first, to be M'ramez that Chet of Mach’shava (Olah) comes before Chet of Ma'aseh (Chatas). Perhaps this is why Klal Yisroel constantly brought an Olah (Olas Tamid) twice a day, to remind us all that first and foremost, a person must guard his mind. Like Shlomo HaMelech said: מִכָּל מִשְׁמָר נְצֹר לִבֶּךָ (Mishlei 4:23) of all things that need to be protected, the most important Shemira a person must have, is to guard his mind.

Perhaps the fact that it’s called a Korban “Olah” is a Remez that it comes to be M'chaper on the upper part of a human body; i.e., the head, which is the: מִשְׁכַּן הַשֵּׂכֶל sanctuary of the Sechel. The consistent bringing of an Olah should keep reminding us again and again: Watch what you think! Fill up your head with learning Torah and positive Bitachon thoughts as much as possible. עוֹלַת תָּמִיד “The constant Olah” tells us to always work on being more and more intense in this Inyan.

Slowly but surely, try to intensify purification of your thoughts. I was once Zoche to bring about a tremendous Yeshua, when I told a Yungerman that his mind can save his child. His little daughter was born like a limp stone, and for three years she was totally dysfunctional, despite loads of Tehilim and Tefilos. But when I told him that the power of his positive-thinking mind can save her, he started having results. Today, she is walking almost perfectly, with Hashem’s help. The person working on Bitachon has to keep reminding himself that thoughts are real. סוֹף מַעֲשֶׂה בְּמַחֲשָׁבָה תְּחִלָּה The outcome is the product of the Mach'shava that preceded it.
