19. Some poskim say one may toivel new dishes on Shabbos (סתימת המחבר שו"ע או"ח סי' שכ"ג ס"ז ); they are not like tamei dishes which may not be toiveled on Shabbos (ביאה"ל שם ד"ה מותר ). Others say it is assur since toiveling it looks like fixing it (שם, דרכי משה, מ"ב שם סקל"ג ).

20. Giving it to a non-Jew. An option which satisfies all opinions is to give it to a non-Jew as a gift (שו"ע שם וביו"ד סי' ק"כ סט"ז ) through a kinyan hagbaha, or meshicha for something that cannot be lifted (מ"ב סי' תמ"ח סקט"ו ). This may be done on Shabbos since it is for a Shabbos need (מ"ב סי' שכ"ג סקל"ד ). Afterward, he should borrow it back to use it; as long as the non-Jew owns it, it does not need tevila.

21. Long-term. Some poskim hold he should take it back and toivel it after Shabbos since it will remain with him [a Jew] and is considered as belonging to a Jew. He should toivel it without a bracha or with another dish (ט"ז סקי"ח ). However, others argue and hold this strategy works permanently and he does not need to toivel it (כנסת הגדולה, רע"א ).

22. Bein hashmashos. One should not toivel a dish bein hashmashos at the entrance of Shabbos (שו"ע או"ח סי' רס"א ס"א ) unless he needs it for Shabbos and has no other dishes (מ"ב שם סק"ה ). It is better to toivel it at bein hashmashos than to rely on other abovementioned strategies (שעה"צ שם סק"ח ).
