It has already been quite a while that I accepted upon myself that I would not bring my cellphone with me into shul, no matter what, and Baruch Hashem I have stood by this. The phone stays in the car, and when I do not have a car, I put the phone in a locker outside shul. The main thing is that the phone is not on me in any which way.

I work for a bus company and they promoted me to be an emergency driver. The job entails that if a bus breaks down or anything else happens, I must be ready to fill in. If the drive is not ready, he is fined a hefty penalty...

I got up late, my shift had already started but I had not yet davened Shacharis. Now, I did not know what to do?! On the one hand I am a driver, and on the other hand, I had this strong conviction that I would not bring my cellphone into shul, no matter what. I considered what would happen if I left the phone in the car and they were looking for me? I finally decided, having no choice, that I would bring the phone with me in silent mode, and after silent Shemona Esrei, I would check the phone to see if they called for a driver and I would have to leave to take the call.

That is what I did, right after silent Shemona Esrei I checked the phone and Baruch Hashem there were no calls. After Shacharis, I went out from shul to the car, and I took out the phone, glad that there were no calls. But to my surprise, the screen of the phone was completely shattered!!! The phone had not fallen, and I did not sense that it was hit at all. Heaven simply gave me a clear message!!!
