Rav Aharon of Chernobyl zy”a writes in a letter: “If one says that it is preferable to decrease your diligence in Torah to instead pursue ahavas and yiras Hashem and all day, do not believe him. This would be unwise. Do you think that yirah is a small thing that can be acquired with empty hands that have slackened in Torah study? One should never say something like this. This is the rule you should keep: The ‘middle road’ is most valuable and accepted by Hashem. And through Torah everyone can come to a lofty level of greatness.”
