HaRav Mordechai Twersky of Kuzmir was born in 1840 to Harav Avraham the Trisker Maggid, author of Sefer Magen Avraham, son of the Maggid of Chernobyl, and a son of the Meor Enayim, Rav Nachum. He married his wife Chana in 1859, the daughter of Rabbi Asher from Stolin, son of Rav Aharon of Karlin, the Beis Aharon. son of Reb Asher of Stolin and Reb Aharon Hagadol of Karlin. Beis Aharon once told his wife that if it weren't for his many chassidim who come to him on Rosh Hashanah, he would love to travel to be in Kuzmir instead of Karlin for Rosh Hashanah! There was a strong bond closeness both of them. His Torah is printed in Sefer Mamar Mordechai and Gedulas Mordechai.

R. Moshe David of Dombroveh, one of Reb Mordechai's very close chassidim. He was the owner of a successful business. He also was one of the better chazzanim in the shul. R. Moshe David's daughter, who was only two years old, became unexpectedly ill, and the parents went to the best doctors, who only gave the child medicine to relieve her but didn't give them much hope that the child would live for a long time.

Hashgacha Pratis had it that Rav Mordechai of Kuzmir came to visit Dombroveh for an extendended vacation, and R. Moshe David went straight to the Rebbe and poured his heart out about the situation of his child. Rav Mordechai read the Kvitel and, after some thought, said, "Don't worry, she will be a healthy child!" and I give her my blessing. R. Moshe David was so happy to hear this, and he told his wife the words of the Rebbe. However, there was still no change in the situation with the girl, and R. Moshe David constantly mentioned his daughter to the Rebbe, but always got the same answer, "Don't worry about her, she will be well!"

R. Moshe David was a strong chassid and strengthened his Emunas Tzaddikim, prayed, and hoped already to see that the child would get well. However, one week later, the condition of the child worsened, and R. Moshe David and his wife devoted themselves to the child, and tried to calm her, and on Friday morning, it was already clear that the situation was very dire, so they called a doctor, who said that it was already holding at the last minutes. R. Moshe David, who had his business near his home, closed it and went to spend the final minutes with his child. His wife cried to him, "Please go right now to the Rebbe! One should not despair as long as she lives, especially since the Rebbe has promised that she will be healthy! R. Moshe David was in a state of weakness from not eating and not sleeping for a few nights, but his wife’s sincere words encouraged him: "Now the life of our child is more important than our well being, and I ask you to go to the Rebbe now."

R. Moshe David received fresh stamina and quickly went over to the Rebbe. He was still weak, and when the Rebbe asked him, "What happened?" R. Moshe David indicated Rav Yisrael, the Rav of Dombroveh, who responded that he was at R. Moshe David's house today and saw that his daughter's condition was critical, and the doctors predicted the worst.

Rabbi Mordechai of Kuzmir heard all this, and his face turned red, and he went into a trance. He thought and tapped his fingers on the table for a few minutes, and then the Rebbi woke up and asked R. Moshe David if he had in mind a happy and freiliche song to sing on Lecha Dodi this Friday night. R. Moshe David was confused, and wasn’t able to think properly, and he answered that he couldn't think of one!

The Rebbe told R. Moshe David not to despair; your salvation is already here; go home now, and Hashem, the superior, will send a cure for your daughter. R. Moshe David gathered his composure, came to himself, and thanked the Rebbe. With the help of Hashem, there was an improvement in his daughter's condition. By the time R. Moshe David arrived home, minute by minute, she was already out of danger; he saw the Rebbe's blessing was helping, and the child already felt a little better.

R. Moshe David was already a different person, and since the situation calmed down, he went to shul early to thank Hashem. The Rebbe appointed him as Chazzan for Kabalas Shabbos. When R. Moshe David came to Lecha Dodi, he remembered that the Rebbe had asked him for a happy song for Lecha Dodi, and R. Moshe David immediately came up with a very happy and lebedige song, and spontaneously the Rebbe and the crowd danced for a long time with such joy and fervor.

After the davening was over, the Rebbi expressed gratitude for the joyful song and continued to wish his daughter a full recovery. The young girl recovered completely due to the effect of the Simcha brought on by the dance. Hashem blessed her with fine children and Jewish generations.
