The Power of Prayer for Rain

The Brisker Rav told over the following story which heard from his father Rav Chaim Brisker.

There was once a long period of time that there was no rain. There was a meeting of leading Rabbanim in Vilna. Rav Chaim Volozhiner was meant to speak. But before he entered the meeting he went upstairs and opened a window to the roof and said, “Ribbono shel Olam, the Jews need rain and then he repeated it again, “Amcha Yisrael tzreechim geshamim.”

He then went down and said, “I have davened twice that Klal Yisrael needs rain. Rav Chaim looked out the window and saw clouds. He then went downstairs to the room to join the meeting. Before he even had a chance to speak it was already raining outside.
