Reb Chaim Greenberger of Kiryat Vizhnitz related to Reb Shmuel’s son-in-law, Reb Elimelech Stern, a maggid shiur in Bobov, the following:

I often saw that when Reb Shmuel was asked to donate a sum of money, he stuck his hand in his pockets and whichever bills came out, he would hand over, without even counting them.
