The hidden matters are for Hashem our G-d. And the revealed matters are for us and our children forever, to do all of the words of this Torah

Every Mitzvah that we do, has two components; the action of the Mitzvah and its inner feeling and Kavanah. These refer to the feelings of love and fear of Hashem that cause us to fulfill His Mitzvos, which we channel into the observance of the Mitzvah through action.

The feelings are an integral part of the Mitzvah and the greater feeling that we have, the greater the Mitzvah is magnified. In a certain regard, the emotion within the Mitzvah is greater than the action itself. However, the action of the Mitzvah is necessary because the Mitzvah cannot exist without its physical fulfillment.

This applies to the positive Mitzvos, which are observed through action. However, the Mitzvos Lo Saaseh, the negative Mitzvos of the Torah are not observed through action, but rather than not acting in a certain way. These Mitzvos are fulfilled purely on the level of the emotions of love and fear that cause us to desist from sinning.

This is why the Kabbalists explain that the negative Mitzvos are superior to the positive Mitzvos, since they exist solely on the emotional level.

The “hidden matters” refer to the love and fear with which we perform the Mitzvos. These feelings are hidden within the action. They are “for Hashem your G-d”, rising on high. The “revealed matters” refer to the action of the observance of the Mitzvah. They are for us and our children, for our benefit, drawing down blessings and goodness into the world.
