Pathways to the Heart

From the Words of HaRav Yoram Abargel zt”l

The Baal HaTanya teaches that without studying Tanach one cannot attain genuine understanding; the very channels of divine light flow specifically through these chapters.

The Talmud expounds on the verse ‘You shall teach them to your children,’ reading not v’‑shinantam (‘you shall teach’) but v’‑shilashtam (‘you shall divide into thirds’): a Jew must allocate a lifetime of Torah study into three equal parts—one‑third Scripture, one‑third Mishnah, and one‑third Talmud.

The same passage explains that this tripartite division governs one’s daily schedule: every day must include study of Scripture, Mishnah, and Talmud, with the Tanach segment—mentioned above—serving as the primary conduit for abundant illumination.
