How was that?
After his half-an-hour at the melave malka, R’ Yehuda paid a visit to his in-laws. At that meal, he communicated to his father-in-law some of the hair-raising stories he’d just heard. His father-in-law was in total shock.
That week, one of his father-in-law’s mispalelim reached out and inquired where he should donate some of his newly inherited yerushah. He had just received several million dollars, and he’d asked his Rav, R’ Yehuda’s father-in-law, who he should benefit. He responded to benefit Lev L’achim, “They accomplish wonders with their money, and you can be sure that your money will be put toward beneficial activities.”
“And what brought him to suggest Lev L’achim?” asked R’ Betzalel. “The stories he had just heard from you. You see, then, how when you do what you must do, Hashem does the rest. You made it your business to partake in the melave malka, even though you thought your attendance wouldn’t be beneficial, and Hashem showed that doing so brought in the biggest donation from the entire event.”
