Leader Predicts Bad Times and the Right to Return

The Parsha Post | June 27, 2025

As he winds down his very long final speech to the Jewish people, Moshe predicts that the day will come when they will be exiled from the Holy Land. “Yes, you will abandon HaShem, and He will ‘abandon’ you, so to speak,” pronounces the 119-year-old leader. “But the good news is that you will eventually repent... do Teshuvah. You will return. Then, HaShem will return you to the Holy Land, Eretz Yisrael.”

“Ah yes,” reflects Yedidyah Gottlieb, “HaShem loves us deeply, and even when He punishes us, He is only does it to inspire us to better ourselves. Once that happens, He welcomes us back like a loving parent. I love it!”
