Questions To Rabbi Mandel

Question:

The Rav was saying that the person in the doctor's office was saying negative things about the Rav’s health. Then, that night, one of the things came true. Don't we say that nobody can affect us negatively? Thank you

Answer:

We try! We try the best we can! But there's Somebody running this world!! And you don’t go around blaming the guy. You go around saying: "Hashem wants it. So what!" Yet, we avoid situations where people could hurt us. If we can't, so let them hurt us. Who cares? And how was it possible for him to be able to hurt? Because I'm not a Malach! That's why! (I'm almost! וַתְּחַסְּרֵהוּ מְּעַט מֵאֱלֹק ים תהלים ח ו Almost! But I'm not there yet) And therefore things like this do happen. Not too often.

Question:

What do I do if I have a talent in music. Should I go into the music industry and maybe fulfill my Tafkid in this world, or should I keep it as an outlet and inspire the people in my small community, and connect people closer to Hashem through my singing? Thank you for everything you do for Klal Yisrael

Answer:

Use the talent! Help people! Make sure that the Nigunim have a Jewish Ta'am (taste). That's all I want to say. And make them happy; why not!? Be proud of it! R' Ahron Kotler Zatzal once told somebody in Lakewood; they never sang in Lakewood. Until a certain Yid said "I'm good at singing". R' Ahron said: "You're good at it? You're singing!" You're M'chuyav to. You're good at it? Use your talent.

Question:

I was reading last week’s Q&A mentioned something about eating chocolates bringing Yeshuos. What does that mean exactly? I haven't been reading the Weekly for a few weeks B"H just got back into it. Please explain. Shkoiech K’svia Va’chasima Toiva, Ah Git Gebenshte Yur!!

Answer:

For the person who believes in the power of chocolate, chocolate works. It has happened. The guy called me up, and the whole family turned around. He had Shalom Bayis. He had Nachas... He had bought tons of chocolates, by the way; it cost him a lot of money, but he believed... I was joking, but if you believe, anything can help you; even a toothpick can also do the job! And I had a reason why chocolates, because it's dark and it's sweet!
