Here’s a powerful mental process to model and teach your kids...
It turns out that one of the most powerful well-being boosting thought types is focused gratitude. Focused gratitude is a well-considered appreciation, one that notices the details of what one is grateful for. For instance, a “regular” gratitude might be “I’m grateful for coffee.” But a focused gratitude might be “I’m grateful for the delicious flavor and warming nature of this drink. I’m grateful for the energy and uplifting mood it provokes. I’m grateful to the people who harvested the beans, shipped them to my country, built the processing factories, packaged, marketed and delivered them to stores...to the people who made my special mug...” and so on.
The more deeply we appreciate the more benefits our mind and body receives. Offer this benefit to your kids by expressing your gratitude out loud on a regular basis.
