In truth, this lesson teaches how to find the inspiration to never despair. Hashem gave us the Torah, which is the source of our lifeforce and strength, as the verse says, כִּי הִוא חַיֶּיךָ וְאֹרֶךְ יָמֶיךָ. Thus, we can draw the chiyus of kedushah by learning Torah for Hashem’s sake.
But what can we do when the necessities of life cause us to interrupt our learning and avodas Hashem? There are times when we have to work, sleep, take care of our families, and so on. Can we still get chiyus from the Torah at these times? In truth, it is in these areas that most people fall, since it appears to them that they have no connection to the Torah.
And even someone who spends many hours a day involved in studying Torah must interrupt his studies to take care of his physical necessities. Does this mean that his chiyus and fulfillment from kedushah can only come in bits and pieces? This approach is what causes people to live with the feeling that they’re always lacking satisfaction and success in their learning.
