Fitness of Body and Soul

Rebbe Responsa | December 10, 2025

Greeting and Blessing:

I was pleased to be informed about the forthcoming dedication of the fitness facility which you and your family have helped to construct at the Chabad Lubavitch Community Center, Thornhill, Ont., in honor of your esteemed parents. It is designed to serve the Lubavitch Day Camp and will also be made available to the Jewish community of Thornhill.

Needless to say, this is a very important contribution not only to the physical, but also spiritual, well-being of the children and youngsters, since, as the Torah emphasizes, the physical and spiritual are intimately intertwined.

The above also has a timely significance in the present period of the “Three Weeks” connected with the Churban of the Beis Hamikdash. For, each and every additional action that strengthens and disseminates Yiddishkeit, Torah and Mitzvoth, helps to remove the last vestiges of the cause of the Churban (namely, neglect of the Torah and Mitzvoth, as we say in our prayer, “Because of our sins we have been exiled from our land”), and bring ever closer the end of our exile and the rebuilding of the Beis Hamikdash through our Righteous Moshiach.

Although the “reward of a Mitzvah is the Mitzvah itself,” the Zechut remains as an eternal source of Divine blessings.

Accordingly, may you and your family be blessed with a generous measure of HaShem's blessings in all needs.

With blessing,
M. Schneerson
