This same pasuk also teaches us the value of bitachon. It can be understood to mean that one is in a narrow place, he should call out to Hashem, and he will then merit to see His salvation and to be taken to a vast expanse.
This is as the Medrash (Yalkut Shimoni, Tehillim, Remez 714) state on the verse (Tehillim 31:2): “I took refuge in You, Hashem; let me not be shamed forever.” It says that one who trusts in Hashem will always be saved. This was proven by Chananya, Mishoel and Azariah, as well as by Daniel, who trusted in Him and were miraculously saved.
