Even the simplest people—as well as sinners and non-Jews, lehavdil—receive chiyus from the Torah. In other words, even a person who doesn’t know how to learn Torah or someone who is in a place where he is unable to do so still gets life from the Torah. Therefore, a person in such a situation must strengthen his yiras Shamayim in any way he can, because everyone receives chiyus from the “hidden Torah” in the merit of the tzaddik who sometimes acts with simplicity. See this lesson inside (Likutei Mohoran II, 78).
And even someone who fell very far and he’s in the deepest pit, G-d forbid, still has hope in the merit of the great tzaddik, since through the tzaddik, a person can receive the chiyus of kedushah in any place. Therefore, in truth, there is never a reason to despair! No matter what, if a person encourages himself in any way he can, he still has hope to return to Hashem.
The main thing is to fulfill the verse, “From the lowest depths, I cried out to You!” because even a cry from the deepest pit is never lost. So, a person must call out time after time and never give up on screaming to Hashem. Instead, he should keep crying out and pleading with Hashem no matter what he’s going through, until Hashem looks down from Heaven and saves him.
