Sometimes there are anomalies and some bug might be present, or sometimes a fly can get into food without a person realizing; these are not things in the category of infestation, but they are random occurrences. Thus, it is always advisable to look at the food one puts in his mouth and also not to eat in the dark (מעשה רב אות צ''ד, שו''ת יעב''ץ ח''ב סי' קכ''ד, חכמת אדם כלל ל''ח אות כ').

The seforim say that if one is always careful to inspect his food to make sure it contains no issur whatsoever, he gets assistance from Shomayim in preventing any pitfalls (ס' שער המים הובא בכף החיים סי' פ''ד אות ק''כ ). Whoever resolves himself to stay away from issur gets siyata d’Shmaya, as “One who comes to become pure gets assistance” (ערוך השלחן יו''ד סי' פ''ד ס''ק ס''ד ).
