The Process of Building the Holy Temple

The Alef | June 25, 2025

It begins with a concept, a glimmer in a creative mind. But it takes more than the brainstorm of one individual to bring the grand project to fruition. Months, possibly years, of discussion and preparation by hundreds or thousands of individuals follow, each bringing their own insights and expertise. Over time, obstacles arise, and progress is deferred or delayed. Still, planning, study and development continue. With constant mental attention, the building, the cruise ship, the park, the city finally come into being.

From the Book of Yechezkel, 40:2-4, Vision of the Holy Temple:

In the visions of G-d, He brought me from Babylon to the land of Israel, and in this vision He placed me on a very tall mountain, and upon it was like the building of a city from the south of the mountain.

And He brought me there, and behold a man whose appearance was like the appearance of copper, with a linen cord in his hand to measure land and a measuring rod to measure the building and gates, and he stood in the gate.

And the man spoke to me, "Son of Man, see with your eyes, and hear with your ears, and set your heart to all that I am showing you, because in order to show you a vision of the future Temple you have been brought here; tell all that you see to the House of Israel."
