Undistracted Influence

Rebbe Responsa | December 10, 2025

By the Grace of G-d
11th of Menachem Av, 5720
Brooklyn, N. Y.

Mrs. Chana Liberow
6, Wellington St., E.
Salford 7, Lancs.
Blessing and Greeting:

I received your few lines, in which you write about your birthday. May G-d grant that, together with your husband, you should have a happy and successful year. The merit of your resolution to help the day camp in your community, in which I trust you will be particularly active in its essential aspects, namely, to strengthen the religious atmosphere and the observance of the Mitzvoth, will surely stand you in good stead. I hope that you will also use your good influence with the other camp counsellors, which will bring you additional Divine blessings.

I need hardly emphasize that a day camp in the summer provides special opportunities for such activities, inasmuch as the children are entirely under the influence of things of the spirit and holiness, and not distracted by secular studies. Under such circumstances, they are especially receptive to good influence, and such influence should be given in the utmost measure, so that it would last them throughout the year. It is surely unnecessary to add that such influence and all the activities for the day camp should be done with Chassidic enthusiasm, and that the children should be told inspiring Chassidic stories, etc., especially as this year is the 200th anniversary of the Baal Shem Tov's completion of his life's work in making the Chassidic teachings and way of life available to everyone, for it is well-known how devoted and dedicated he was to Jewish children in particular.

Hoping to hear good news from you,
With blessing,
By Nissan Mindel
