We are approaching the month of Elul, when we evaluate the year that is coming to an end and prepare for the next year that will begin on Rosh Hashanah. We work on five areas (all of which are represented by verses that the word “Elul” stands for). 1-3: The three pillars of the world – Torah, prayer and acts of kindness. 4: Teshuvah-returning to G-d. 5: Redemption; everything in our service of G-d should be permeated with the Redemption, including and especially through learning about the Redemption and the Beis Hamikdash (Holy Temple), out of anticipation and complete certainty that immediately we see with physical eyes that “Here comes the King Moshiach!”
