Kosher Pattern Theory Discovered

The Parsha Post | December 31, 2025

As Moshe Rabbeinu has once again shared details of which animals are Kosher, Professor S. N. Bentch announced his “Kosher pattern theory.”

“Those creatures living higher up are more likely to be Kosher. Here’s how it works,” explained the excited professor. “The majority of flying birds are Kosher, some land animals are Kosher, and virtually no creepy crawlies, which include reptiles and insects, are permitted to be eaten.”

When asked whether his theory holds true with water-creatures, Professor Bentch responded, “Absolutely! Think about it... Kosher fish with fins and scales tend to live near the top, where the water is clean and pure. On the other hand, those water-creatures living in the murky, muddy depths, such as shrimp, lobster, oyster and crab, are totally not Kosher! Isn’t this exciting?! Am I not a genius?!”

Shazak Editor’s Note #1: This “Kosher Pattern Theory” was recorded by the great Ramban, a.k.a. Nachmanides, in his commentary on the Chumash.

Shazak Editor’s Note #2: While these observations are fascinating and enlightening, Kosher remains a Chok, a Mitzvah that makes no sense to us mortals, and must be fulfilled because our Father in Heaven commanded.
