PARENTING POST

By Sarah Chana Radcliffe

When you fight with your spouse, don’t say anything too hurtful because......

The kids hear you fighting with your spouse. They hear you at night when they are “sleeping.” They hear you in the daytime when they are playing or studying in a different room. And they hear you when you are fighting right in front of them. And, providing that they also hear you being kind to each other, resolving your conflicts and getting along nicely - far more often than they hear you fighting - it’s all good. Seeing that your marriage is resilient and that mistakes can be made and corrected, is good. Seeing that you love each other even though you sometimes hurt each other, is good. Seeing that you improve and fight less often over time, is very good. We’re all growing up together, kids and adults alike.
