Rav Yehoshua Zeitlein

Rav Yehoshua was born in the year 5502/תק''ב in Charson. He was a talmid of the Vilna Gaon and the Shaagas Aryeh, and a great gaon in his own right. All the great Torah leaders of his generation turned to him for his knowledge in practical halacha. He authored the sefer Amudei Gola on the Semak (Sefer Mitzvos Katan) as well as writing a work of responsa.

Rav Yehoshua was a wealthy individual, and he served as an official minister and a royal adviser to the king. He had many great disciples and talmidim, and he himself supported many Torah giants, including the author of Tosfos Bikkurim, the author of Cheshbon HaNefesh, the author of Givei Kesef, and Rav Baruch of Shklov.

He passed away at the age of 80 on 1 Elul.תקפ''ב/5582
