Sacred Site Still Secret

Well into his end-of-life speech, Moshe Rabbeinu has communicated several laws regarding the spot where HaShem will choose to rest. Conspicuously absent is the identity of this location, which has led to widespread speculation.

“How sensitive our great leader is,” suggested TNS commentator Harry Bayis. “The Holy Temple will end up in the portion of just one or two tribes. Why rush to disclose information that can lead to undue jealousy?”

Others propose a military reason. “Should enemies of our people know which place HaShem has selected, they will surely demolish it,” said Lieutenant General Rav Aluf. “Not publicizing its identity until it is securely in our hands is a brilliant tactical move.”
