We're all learning - we, our spouses and our children. Let's celebrate our efforts, our progress and our achievements. We'll always remain imperfect and flawed but let's not pay so much attention to that. In fact, let's intentionally downplay what's wrong about all of us and let's highlight the good. Not only will we be happier for it, but we'll also be more successful in every way.
In a given moment, you might be able to teach one important lesson - but more likely you can teach two...
It's important to teach your child to hang up his coat but not as important as teaching him how to speak in a pleasant voice to others. If you have to choose only one lesson, make it the latter. But really, you can teach both skills at the very same time, simply by using a very pleasant tone of voice when you ask him to hang up his coat!
