A story is told about the Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh. One time a Talmid Chachum came to Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh and requested his assistance. Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh agreed on the condition that the Talmid Chucham first relate verses from the Torah where two of the same letters were connected together from the letters Aleph through Tav. The Talmid Chucham replied that he would do so but he first stated that there was no such combination for the letter "ע" in Tanach. He then preceded to list:
ומקללך אארו (ראשית יב, ג)
בשבתך בב יתך (דברים ו,ז)
ועשית מעקה לגגך (דברים כב, ח)
דדו או בן דדו יגאלנו (ויקרא כה, מט)
וישכב במקום ההוא (בראשית כח, יא)
ווי העמודים (שמות כו,י)
על מזזות ביתך (דברים ו,ט)
חח ונזם (שמות לה, כב)
והיו לטטפות (דברים ו,ו)
ובחרת בחיים (דברים ל, טו)
ככל היוצא מפיו יעשה (במדבר ל,ג)
וללי אמר (דברים ל, ח)
ממלכת כהנים (שמות יט, ו)
ושננתם לבניך (דברים י, ו)
ויסעו מרעמסס (במדבר לג, ג)
חפף עליו כל היום (דברים לג יב )
בחצצרות על עולותיכם (במדבר י, ט)
חלקת מחקק ספון (דברים לג, ב)
וימררו את חייהם (שמות א, יד)
שש משזר (שמות לט, ב)
Before stating the letter "ת" the Talmid Chacham stopped and say that the Holy Rabbi should now bless him as promised. Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh agreed and gave him a proper beracha and nice sum of money.
Then the Talmid Chachum proceeded to the final verse:
נתון ותתן לו (דברים טו, י)
The verse implies that the giver needs to give and give again. Therefore, Ohr HaChaim HaKadosh was pleased with the ingenuity of the Talmid Chachum and proceeded to give him another sum of money.
