Worthy Recognition

In a moving recognition of the tremendous work of the emissaries of the Rebbe, The Jerusalem Post pub- lished its annual list of the world's 50 most influential Jews. Among those selected in the category of spiritual leaders shaping the Jewish people is Rabbi Sholom Duchman, Director of Colel Chabad, who appears alongside Rabbi Dov Landau, leader of the Lith- uanian Torah community and Rosh Yeshiva of Slabodka Yeshiva.

The Jerusalem Post described the remarkable transformation Rabbi Duchman has brought about. For nearly five decades, he has led Colel Chabad, the oldest continuously oper- ating charity in the Holy Land, found- ed in 1788 by the Alter Rebbe. In 1978, when Rabbi Duchman was only 25, the Rebbe entrusted him with ex- panding the organization.

Since then, Rabbi Duchman has over- seen unprecedented growth. He trans- formed an organization whose donor records fit inside a small card-file box into a charitable network distributing approximately $200 million in assis- tance annually to those in need.

Also appearing on the list is Rabbi Menachem Mendel Kotlarsky, Execu- tive Director of Merkos 302, which The Jerusalem Post describes as Chabad's global incubator for innova- tion, research and development. adapted from COL
