“Among all [creatures] that are in the water, you may eat these: Any [of the creatures] in the water that has fins and scales...” [Vayikra 11:9]
The Goldburg family were spending their vacation by the Kineret. On Shabbos day, Avi and Shmuli took a walk by the sea.
“Look, Avi!” said Shmuli as he pointed to the shore in front of them, “A fish!”
Shmuli looked and was surprised to see a fish laying on the sand. As the brothers approached closer, they were shocked even more - the fish was alive!
“Probably, a wave brought it out to the shore,” said Avi.
“It’s so sad,” sighed Shmuli, “This poor fish will die without water.”
“So let’s throw it back in the water!” proposed Avi.
“How can we? It’s muktza!” replied Shmuli.
“But maybe it’s okay to move muktza to help a living creature not to suffer,” said Avi.
Question: Can they pick up the fish and throw it in the sea?
