A Leader Needs to Have an Area in His Life That He Needs to Improve, And Then He Can Help Others

Bitachon Weekly | December 10, 2025

How is it that Moshe Rabeinu should be Nichshal in such an important Mitzva and delay the Mitzva of Bris Mila? Not doing a Bris Mila is also a Kedusha area. The main Yetzias Mitzrayim was to take us out of the: מ"טַ שׁ עֲר יַ טוּמ א ַתַ מ צ ר י ם 49 gates of Tum'as Mitzrayim, which is mainly Inyanei Zima (and the Mitzri'im were indeed: שׁ תוּפ יַז ימָ ה steeped in immorality). For this reason, Yosef had to pave the way and show how this Yetzer Hara can be overcome. (Medrash).

By the Goyim a leader is aloof to his nation. He has no connection with them, or with their pains and needs. For this reason they are called: א לוּפ יַ אֱדוֹםַ “Alufei” Edom, since they are “aloof” of their nation. (RSRH). A Jewish leader is called a: נָשׁ יא Nasi, which also means a “cloud”. A cloud has the same water vapor as below, yet it rises. Chazal say that Moshiach will bring Klal Yisroel back to Teshuva, together with doing Teshuva himself. Notice how Paroh made believe that he didn’t need to go to the bathroom, and this is why Hashem kept sending Moshe to meet Paroh by: שְ פַ ת הַ יְ אֹ ר the river in the morning, when he went secretly. (Rashi).

This is a message for Paroh to realize that he is a human, and he should stop acting like a god. In Novardok they said: “The Pope never sins”, i.e., it’s all baloney; every human sins, as it says: כ יַאָדָ םַא יןַצ ד יקַבָאָרֶּ ץַאֲשֶּׁ רַי עֲשֶּ הַטּוֹבַַ ו לֹאַיֶּחֱטָ אַַקהלתַזַכ there does not exist a person who never sinned. This is why Paroh didn’t understand why all the women and children leave Mitzrayim for Korbanos; since we have Korban Sh’lamim which means: חַ ג ה'ַ לָ נוַַּיַט that we have a good time and we all eat.

A Goy only brings a Korban Olah, and that’s why Paroh said: לְ כוּ נָא הַ גְּ בָ רִּ יםַַיַ יא only the men, who are Makriv the Korban should go, since nobody eats. We eat, we enjoy Olam HaZeh in the proper way, and we all sin and do Teshuva. We are normal humans, and even our leader Moshe makes a mistake, by not doing a Bris Mila. NOW he is fit to take us out of our sins, which is the main Yesod of Yetzias Mitzrayim.

So now the Matzav is perfect. קְ שׁוֹט עַ צְ מְ ךָ, וְ אַ חַ ר כָךְ קְ שׁוֹט אֲ חֵ רִּ יםַַב"מַקזַב Once you improve yourself, you can improve others. A leader needs to have an area in his life that he needs to improve himself first, and then he helps others. A Tzaddik once said that he’s happy that his Talmidim sin, since it removes Ga'ava from their heart, which is worse than...
