The Greatness of Saying Tehillim, Even With Mistakes:
Tehillim is always effective, even if it is said with mistakes and mispronunciations, as long as it is recited with a sincere heart.
Sefer Zichron Harazash relates that the Rebbitzen of the Tzemach Tzedek zy”a would say a lot of Tehillim every day. However, she said the words with many mispronunciations. She once told her son, the Maharil, “I am amazed that I can’t say Tehillim by heart. I have been reciting the entire sefer every day for so many years, but I still don’t have it memorized!”
He told her, “That’s because you don’t say the same Sefer Tehillim every day. Each day, you pronounce the words differently than the day before.”
She repeated this to her husband, the Tzemach Tzedek, and asked, “If I really am pronouncing the words wrong, maybe I shouldn’t say Tehillim at all.”
He told her to continue saying Tehillim as she had always done. He then called his son over and said, “Why did you say that? The success I experienced in the city of Petersburg was all in the merit of your mother’s Tehillim.” He then ordered him to ask her forgiveness.
