5738-1977, the Rebbe blessed a group of yeshivah students who were going as his emissaries to Yeshiva Ohr Elchonon in Los Angeles, which had recently come under Chabad leadership. The Rebbe wished them success in their mission, and that through their work, they illuminate the entire city with the light of Torah and mitzvot. The Rebbe handed each student a booklet on the topic of ahavat yisrael and two dollars for them to give to charity.
